How is your energy level these days? Are you feeling tired, run down or maybe just plain old? Is difficult to get through your day without reaching for a cup of coffee – or a Rockstar – or something even more potent?
Not to worry! We’re here to help. Read on for a list of ten things you should be doing if you want to improve your overall energy levels. They are ranked in order of difficulty: The lower the number, the easier it will be to integrate into your lifestyle.
Note: We recommend talking to your doctor before trying any new supplement or program. Every body is different and what works for some men may not be appropriate for others.
1. Take Liquid B-Complex 2x/day
B-vitamins are essential for the body to create energy. They also help elevate mood, promote healthy sleep and nerve function, balance hormones and assist in the production of red blood cells, RNA and DNA. For maximum effectiveness, make sure you use a liquid B-complex twice a day – the half-life of several B vitamins is only 12 hours.
- B1 (Thiamine) is fundamental in energy metabolism.
- B2 (Riboflavin) is an anti-oxidant that assists in red blood cell production.
- B3 (Niacin) helps regulate hormones in the adrenal glands and also improves circulation.
- B5 (Pantothetic Acid) is a requirement for the body to break down and use dietary fat.
- B6 (Pyridoxine) helps produce the neurotransmitters [seratonin and norepinephrine], natural mood stabilizers that are synthetically copied for use in anti-depressants.
- B6 also helps create the important sleep regulator melatonin.
- B9 (Folic Acid) aids the body’s creation of both DNA and RNA. Folic Acid deficiency is widespread in America.
- B12 (Cobalamin) works with B6 and B9 to produce DNA and RNA, control mood, manufacture red blood cells, balance iron and homocysteine levels and improve immune function. B12 is a key ingredient in Rockstar, Redbull and other energy drinks.
We recommend Now Ultra Liquid B-Complex. It has all seven major B-vitamins at a great price.
2. Use a Concentrated Superfood Powder
Our environment here in the US isn’t 100% healthy. Several hundreds of years ago this country was open grasslands, clean streams and organic produce. Not anymore. Now there are a bunch of chemicals in our food. There’s also pesticides on the plants, weed killers in the ground, petrochemicals in the water and pollution in air. Whether we like it or not, our bodies are absorbing toxic crap pretty much every day.
In addition to all those chemicals, most of us aren’t eating the recommended 13 servings of fruits/vegetables a day. And even if we’re really motivated to get our antioxidants, we generally cook the vegetables – killing many of the vitamins.
So we’re full of toxic crap and we’re not getting enough vitamins. Thankfully there is a great, natural solution to this issue: Concentrated Organic Superfood blends.
These blends take the best, most nutrient-rich foods on the planet and put them together in an easy to use powder. They use organic plants so there’s no pesticides or chemicals and cold-process them so all the vitamins are still living. Superfood blends boost your energy, reduce pain and inflammation and help your liver detox your body.
Sound too good to be true? Don’t worry, I didn’t believe these claims either at first. Thankfully there are literally hundreds of studies out there showing the benefits of using Superfoods.
Here’s a few examples:
Bluegreen Algae
Chlorella
Wheatgrass
Barley Grass
Red Beetroot
We recommend Vibrant Health Green Vibrance, Peak Performance Green Superfood, and Greens First Original Superfood but there are other great products on the market as well. Experiment and see what works best for your body (and your wallet).
3. Practice Visualizing the Future
The brain has a great deal of difficulty determining what is ‘real’ and what isn’t. This recent study at Emory University proved that when you read novels and watch movies, your pulse raises and your temporal cortex and central sulcus are both greatly stimulated – just as if you had experienced the events in person.
The same thing is true with your thoughts about anything. Imagine if you had to stand up in front of your town and give a speech. Stressful, isn’t it? Now think about the first time you had great sex with a girl. Feels great, no? Now think about the latest act of terrorism. You see where I’m going here. All we have to do is visualize an event and our brain will produce a similar emotional – and neurological – experience.
Experts in many fields are now learning to focus the power of the brain to imagine new futures for themselves.
Visualizing increases productivity: When a series of job seekers on Monster spent time consciously imagining getting hired, they were three times as successful as the other applicants.
You can get stronger without using weights: Did you know you can increase muscle strength just by visualizing yourself getting stronger? This crazy 12-week study sounds like science fiction.
Increase your competitive edge: The Russians and East Germans dominated the XV Winter Olympics with 20 combined gold medals and 54 overall medals. Their success is attributed directly to their groundbreaking use of daily visualization for every athlete.
Spending time visualizing in a meditative state recharges our bodies, removes stress and opens up our creative minds. To learn or improve quickly, spend time clearly envisioning the future you want. The better you get at imagining your goals, the faster you will energize the body/mind connection and transform your thoughts into reality.
4. Hypnotize Yourself
Everyone knows the phrase ‘You are what you eat’ is literally true: The food you put in your mouth will eventually be broken down into molecules and some of those molecules will become a permanent part of you.
Your brain functions in the exact same way. What you put into your head turns into your mental model of the world. This is the reason why Tim Ferris says ‘You are the average of the five people you most associate with.’ The attitudes and perspectives of the people near you are contagious and will eventually transform your beliefs.
If you want to increase your capacity you must continuously fill your thoughts and memories with powerful new images and beliefs. Like Napoleon Hill says “Self Hypnosis is being constantly used by all people, at all times, whether they recognize this fact or not…. Therefore, instead of using it blindly, to destructive ends, it is better to embrace it and use it consciously for the attainment of desirable ends.”
How do you hypnotize yourself? It’s easy. Read excellent books. Watch inspirational movies and shows. Listen to educational podcasts and audiobooks. Repeat positive phrases and mantras. And keep doing it every single day for as many hours as possible.
Soon, all that education, positivity and belief will become so ingrained in your thought processes that you will be transformed into a different, better person. New possibilities will be open to you. You will be able to start imagining a new life with more intrigue, excitement and fun. Eventually, sooner than you think, you’ll be accomplishing what you used to believe was impossible. Imagine how energizing that will be?!
5. Stretch Every Single Day
Muscle pain is a serious problem in America. Back pain alone costs us $50 Billion (with a ‘B’) every year. Whether we choose to ignore it, combat it with booze or pills or seek medical help, chronic pain remains one of the biggest energy thieves in our lives.
A lot of this pain is caused by lack of motion. Sitting has become the most popular activity in our lives. Most Americans sit for 40 hours a week at work and 6 more hours in their car on the commute. Then when they get home they spend another 30 hours a week sitting in front of the TV.
The problem is that our bodies are not designed to sit for long periods of time. Look around – there’s no chairs in nature! The good news is that there’s an easy antidote: Stretching.
Stretching has scientifically been proven to:
– Lengthen muscle fibers, relieving stiffness and soreness
– Reduce muscle pain
– Help the body recover as effectively as strength-training
Plus you can do it even if you’re a committed couch potato. Unlike going to the gym, you can stretch anytime, it only takes a few minutes and it’s free.
So stand up multiple times during the day and stretch those muscles. Take a few deep breaths. If you’re ready for big benefits, switch to a standing desk: The rewards of a hybrid stand-up desk include lowered risk of heart disease, diabetes, stroke and even death!
