Here’s a challenge:
Can you think of an activity that will make you happier, healthier and more attractive?
Working out seems like an obvious answer. Hitting the gym boosts endorphins, increases your immune system and makes you hotter. Charity work is surprisingly beneficial for the body, so that might be a good choice. A case could definitely be made for gardening or other constructive outdoor activities. And hey, sex does all those things plus it has several other benefits.
Let’s make this more difficult. In addition to the previous perks, can you find an activity that will also increase your profitability, make people like you and doesn’t cost anything?
Gardening is pleasurable for many people but flowers and mulch are definitely an investment – not to mention the new patio – so that’s out. You could work out at home for free and having a better body will help your social status but a nice ass probably won’t increase your bottom line (get it? bottom line?). And I wouldn’t recommend having sex to make money or to become more popular unless you’re a porn star. That only leaves volunteering.
What if I added one final requirement: You had to accomplish the activity in less than five seconds?
The answer is closer than you think. In fact, it’s literally on your face.
The Power of a Smile
According to recent studies, smiling may be the single easiest and most powerful way to change your life. Sound impossible? Check out these amazing facts:
Smiles relieve stress: When you smile, your brain immediately releases endorphins. Endorphins are the warm, fuzzy, feel-good chemicals that your pituitary gland is producing when you’re happy.
Smiling helps you make money: A person wearing a big smile is perceived as attractive, sociable and confident, and people who smile more are promoted more often.
More attractive than makeup: A study conducted by Orbit Complete discovered that two-thirds of people think women are more attractive when they smile than when they are wearing makeup.
Smiles are infectious: It’s not just a saying: Scientists have found smiling really is contagious. In a study conducted in Sweden, not only did people have difficulty frowning when they looked at other subjects who were smiling, they soon found themselves smiling too.
It’s easier to smile than to frown: Your body has to work harder and use more muscles to frown than to smile. It’s as if we were born to be happy!
Born smiling: Scientists have proven all newborns come with the ability to grin. Even blind babies smile!
Forcing yourself to smile still works: Psychologists have found you can instantly change your bad mood by smiling. The physical act of smiling, even if you don’t really want to, still makes you happier.
